Canadian authorities bust a major drug smuggling operation, seizing $48 million worth of cocaine and arresting nine individuals.
A year-long investigation, dubbed “Project Pelican,” has led to a significant drug bust in Canada, resulting in the arrest of nine individuals, including seven of Indian origin. The operation uncovered a sophisticated network involved in smuggling cocaine from the U.S. into the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).
As of June 6, nine individuals face a total of 35 charges related to firearm and drug offenses. The accused were apprehended while attempting to smuggle cocaine into the GTA.
This operation is part of a broader effort by Canadian authorities to combat international drug trafficking networks. Recent initiatives include “Project Castillo” in Toronto, which resulted in the seizure of 835 kg of cocaine.
